AIB will offer a consortium for doctoral students on Friday, June 28, 2002. Witold Henisz of Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania is organizing the consortium. A number of leading international business researchers will serve as speakers for the event. These faculty will also present their interpretation of important and emerging research areas in international business and lead discussions on several topics. The emphasis will be placed on issue-oriented research, which may transcend traditional functional boundaries.

These faculty will present their interpretation of important and emerging research areas in international business and lead discussions on several topics. The emphasis will be placed on issue-oriented research, which may transcend traditional functional boundaries.

MEET THE EDITORS PANEL

In addition, there will be a special session on Friday afternoon, organized by Lloyd Rossow (Philadelphia University), where the doctoral students will meet and interact with the editors of the leading journals in international business. Some of the editors who will be there are:

DOCTORAL CONSORTIUM ROW

A second new event in this year's consortium is that students will have the opportunity to submit a paper for a special poster session on the regular program. The consortium chair will solicit submissions from participants and those judged acceptable will be presented in a "Doctoral Consortium Row" within the Poster Session on Saturday afternoon. These students will therefore have an accepted paper at the annual AIB meetings. We see this as a way for doctoral students to present their research to 700+ faculty members, in an early pre-job-hunt situation, which should lead to better placements after graduation. A poster paper can also be listed on one's curriculum vita, and may help obtain funding to attend the conference.

HOW TO APPLY

To apply for the consortium, the student must be nominated by a faculty member who writes a letter stating the student's interests and abilities. Please send the nomination letter (including the contact e-mail addresses) and supporting material (that includes a 300-word maximum abstract of the student's current research topic to be distributed at the consortium).

Doctoral students may apply to AIB for $500 travel funding support.
